OUR VISION
- For all ranks and divisions of the Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department (JFRD) to reflect the ethnic and gender make up of the City of Jacksonville
- For all individuals of the JFRD to be respected and appreciated for their differences
- For persons of all socioeconomic backgrounds within our community to have the real opportunity to pursue careers in the fire service
OUR MISSION STATMENT
To provide a unified voice for the under represented employees of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, and to reflect a strong and positive image in the communities in which we live and serve
OUR OBJECTIVES
- Develop a mutually beneficial relationship with the Jacksonville Fire/Rescue Department and the International Association of Firefighters Local 122 Union that will lead to a better working environment
- To significantly increase the number of scholarships awarded each year
- In partnership with the JFRD, form a Firefighter Explorer Post in the northwest area of Jacksonville
- Develop a donation and loaner program for firefighting gear, equipment and books
OUR HISTORY
The Jacksonville Brotherhood of Firefighters, Inc. (JBOF) was founded 1983 and is a chapter of the International Association of Black Professional Fire Fighters (IABPFF). The IABPFF has 121 chapters and over 8000 members with chapters in Barbados, Bahamas and even in London. The JBOF was formed to lend a voice and address issues and concerns of African Americans and other minority members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.
